Sports day problems are almost always practical: no water, no hat, wrong shoes. A notice that lists what to bring does more for the day than a schedule of events, so put both on the same poster.

What to put on it

• Event name and date
• Start and finish times
• The events, in running order
• What to bring — water, hat, sun cream
• Whether families can stay for a picnic
• The wet-weather plan

How to make one

1. Open the poster maker and pick the event template.
2. Put “Field day” in the title and the date in the subtitle.
3. Add tags for the times, the venue and what to bring.
4. List the events, then download the PNG and send it home.

Sports day tips

• Put the finish time in the tags — parents arrange pickups around it
• Note which year groups compete when, so families can time their arrival
• Ask about sun cream in advance; schools cannot apply it themselves
• Announce the weather call by a set time so nobody guesses
